The 2021 DE Ground School will be held at Palmer Motorsports Park in Palmer/Ware, Massachusetts.

Are you a new club member or perhaps, a long term member getting back into Porsche-related activities?  Are you interested in expanding your Porsche experience into the more exotic realm or would you like to drive your Porsche ‘spiritedly’ without the risk of running afoul of the polizei?

If you answered yes to any of the above, we invite you to get a head start on our 2021 track season by attending NER’s Driver Education Ground School!

When and where: April 24th at Palmer Motorsports Park, MA

This is NER’s annual classroom-based introduction to our Driver Education program and once again, is being supported by Cody McLean of HMS Motorsport, located in, Danvers, MA. HMS personnel will be presenting the safety & equipment portion of the class. Additional HMS info can be found here:

PCA’s Driver Education program, the most popular activity offered by NER is for all PCA Club members who are licensed drivers and 18 or older. NER's DE Events are especially known to be among the best organized, safest and the most enjoyable and rewarding driver events in this part of the country.

The Ground School gives you a great overview of NER’s on-track Driver Education program. While not geared to grooming you to become the next Formula 1 champion, we will discuss the fundamentals of high performance track driving and how many of these techniques can be applied to improve your everyday, on-street driving.

A few more things we'll cover with the group:

  • Learn hear how to prepare for an event
  • Find out how and where our events are held,
  • Learn what to expect when you get to an event
  • You’ll  get a copy of the presentation with lots of useful info
  • Most of all, you’ll learn how much fun DE’ing can be!

Let's get you signed up!

  • Advanced registration for this highly-popular event is strongly suggested (and will save you money).
  • Registration prior to the event is $30 per person and walk-in registrations the day of the event are $40 per person.
  • Registrants can reserve up to 4 tickets for the ground school bring family and/or friends!
  • Check-in and a continental breakfast, generously provided by NER member and Panera Bread franchise owner David Peterman, begins at 9:30 AM
  • Our presentation will run from approximately 10 AM to Noon. At the end of the program, HMS will provide a pizza lunch.
  • You’ll have ample time to ask questions and see the practical and fun stuff that HMS has to offer, including helmets, gloves, harnesses and other safety equipment.
  • In addition to the presentation and food we also plan to offer the opportunity for parade laps courtesy of Palmer Motorsports Park management. Participating in parade laps is NOT a requirement for attending the ground school but it will give you some idea why some of us are addicted to track driving!

“What’s a Parade Lap?” you may ask. In parade laps, participants are allowed to drive several laps on track at reduced speeds following a pace car. This will give you a sense of what it feels like to actually drive the track yourself. You can have passengers in your vehicle and all occupants must wear seat belts. No helmets are required for parade laps.

Remember, attending this Ground School in no way obligates you to sign up for a DE event. However, we hope to show you that the best way to truly experience and appreciate your Porsche is by driving it on track. Questions? –  email Stan Corbett or call me (please, NLT 9PM) at 774-275-1621.
