SUMMARY:2022 Driver Education Ground School (intro to track events)
DESCRIPTION:The 2022 DE Ground School will be held at Palmer Motorsports Pa
rk in Palmer/Ware Massachusetts.\nAre you a new member of the Porsche Club
 ? Or\, perhaps\, a long term member getting back into Porsche-related acti
vities?  Are you interested in expanding your Porsche experience into mor
e exotic realms? Would you like to drive your Porsche ‘spiritedly’ wit
hout the risk of running afoul of the polizei?\nIf you’ve ever dreamed o
f driving your Porsche at speed\, feeling exhilarated by its performance a
nd learning to take full advantage of its capabilities\, we invite you to
get a head start on our 2022 track season by attending NER’s Driver Educ
ation Ground School on Sunday\, April 24th at Palmer Motorsports Park. Thi
s is NER’s annual classroom-based introduction to our Driver Education p
rogram and again is being supported by Cody McLean of HMS Motorsport at HM
S’s facility in Danvers MA. HMS personnel will be presenting the safety
&amp\; equipment portion of the class. Additional information about HMS an
d directions to their facility can be found at www.hmsmotorsport.com.\nPCA
’s Driver Education program is the most popular activity offered by PCA
and the events are for all PCA Club members who are licensed drivers and 1
8 or older. NER’s Driver Education events are especially well-known to b
e among the best organized\, safest and the most enjoyable and rewarding D
E events in this part of the country.\nThe Ground School will give you a g
reat overview of NER’s on-track Driver Education program. While not gear
ed to grooming you to become the next Formula 1 champion\, we will discuss
the fundamentals of high performance track driving and how many of these
techniques can be applied to improve your everyday\, on-street driving. Yo
u’ll hear how to prepare for an event\, how and where our events are hel
d\, what to expect when you get to an event and\, most of all\, you’ll l
earn how much fun DE’ing can be. You’ll also get a copy of the present
ation containing lots of useful information.\nAdvanced registration for th
is highly-popular event is strongly suggested (and will save you money). R
egistration prior to the event is $30 per person and walk-in registrations
the day of the event are $40 per person. Registrants can reserve up to fo
ur tickets for the ground school so they can bring family and/or friends.
Check-in and a continental breakfast will begin at 9:30 AM. Our presentati
on will run from approximately 10 AM to Noon. At the end of the program\,
HMS will provide a pizza lunch. You’ll also have ample time to ask quest
ions and see the practical and fun stuff that HMS has to offer\, including
helmets\, gloves\, harnesses and other safety equipment. In addition to t
he presentation and food we also plan to offer the opportunity for parade
laps courtesy of Palmer Motorsports Park management. Participating in para
de laps is NOT a requirement for attending the ground school but it will g
ive you some idea why some of us are addicted to track driving!\n"What's a
Parade Lap?" you may ask. In parade laps\, participants are allowed to dr
ive several laps on track at reduced speeds following a pace car. This wil
l give you a sense of what it feels like to actually drive the track yours
elf. You can have passengers in your vehicle and all occupants must wear s
eat belts. No helmets are required for parade laps.\nRemember\, attending
this Ground School in no way obligates you to sign up for a DE event. Howe
ver\, we hope you agree that the only way to truly experience and apprecia
te what you and your Porsche are capable of doing is to drive it on track.
Questions? –  email Stan Corbett or call me (please\, NLT 9PM) at 774
-275-1621.\nWho should attend?\nAnyone interested in improving their drivi
ng and learning about our 2021 Driver Education program.\nWhile everyone i
s welcome to attend NER’s 2021 Ground School\, drivers participating in
NER’s on-track Driver Education events must hold current memberships in
PCA or other recognized car club (such as BMW CCA)\, have a valid driver
’s license and be at least 18 years old.\nRegistration is open at this l
ink: Club Registration. If you are a first-time visitor to Club Registrati
on you will need to create a profile.  This will save you time later as
registrations for our DE events are also made through this site.  After c
reating a profile search “By Category” for this event selecting “Nor
theast Region PCA” as the club.\nThe 2021 DE Ground School Presentation
