Never mind that namby-pamby Driver Education where you can’t pass in a corner and no one wins or loses.  Never mind that Autocross stuff where there’s one car on the track at the same time.  Here’s your chance at some real competition – where you can swap some paint in the corners and where no one is faster because they spent more.

Yes, we are talking Karting at F1. Jim Graham has rented the City Course (the longer, better one) for 1.5 hours on Saturday February 15th.  You will arrive at 12:30am for weigh-in (lighter drivers have to put weights in the karts to equalize things) and instructions.  Racing suits and helmets are provided (but bring your own helmet if you have one).  We will be on the track from 1:30 to 3:00pm.  If everyone follows instructions and we don’t waste time each driver will get 3 qualifying races and most drivers will get one final or consolation race.

The top 12 drivers (based on fastest lap in any of the Qualifying races) will compete in the Final.  If we have time, drivers 13 – 24 will compete in a Consolation race.  Participants are encouraged to stay after for lunch and a beer (there is a nice restaurant at F1 Boston).  Cost is $67.50.

THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL PCA EVENT AND THERE IS NO PCA INSURANCE COVERAGE.  Sign up here.  PLEASE USE TWO LINES IF YOU ARE SIGNING UP TWO PEOPLE.   If the event is full, there is be a place for you to wait list.  If lots of people are on the wait list, we may add another event (particularly if someone volunteers to run it!).   (if you get in but want to do a second event, also sign up on the wait list.)  Once you sign up and are accepted, you will receive an email and then be emailed instructions as to how to pay.  Those not paying on time will be replaced off the wait list.

F1 Boston is at 290 Wood Road in Braintree.  Check out their website for more information about the karts, racing, etc.
