Heritage Museums & Gardens founder Josiah K. Lilly, III first began collecting cars in 1964, after deciding that he wanted to open a museum in honor of his father, Josiah K. Lilly, Jr. Today, Heritage’s antique automobile collection features 40 American-made cars, ranging from 1899 through 1962. The gardens offer 100 spectacular acres of trees and shrubs, designed gardens, exquisite flowers and sweeping lawns. The gardens are a delight any time of year. Attendees will follow a tour guide through a chronological exhibition of the automobile collection telling the story of how the automobile revolutionized American life and the behind the scenes auto collection storage including seeing the work that goes into maintaining this world class collection, including the ins and outs of moving cars and preparing them for exhibit.
