Hey Rallyers!
Once again we are honoring the memory of Region founders Charlie and Martha Dow with a Rally named after them. This year we will be venturing into Cape Cod! Let’s call it the “Two Bridges Rally” as we will be starting at South Shore Autoworks in Kingston and then looping across the Bourne Bridge then back across the Sagamore Bridge – ending at Mezza Luna Restaurant in Buzzards Bay.
The format is a gimmick rally where you will be provided with both gps and written directions. In with the written directions are questions which you must attempt to answer – most correct answers wins! Of course the rally planners are evil and devious and will attempt to trick you with barely decipherable clues. But you will enjoy a lovely course and some Fall foliage as you cuss at the question creators.
After the driving we will have a buffet lunch at a great restaurant while we tabulate results and announce winners. And you can enjoy an adult beverage if you wish. ALL THIS FOR ONLY $70 PER CAR (2 PEOPLE)!
Sign up by 10/3 please so we get a good count for lunch.
You should arrive at South Shore Autoworks (192 Summer St, Kingston, MA) at 9am. You will be directed to park and then there will be a Drivers Meeting. We will distribute printed route instructions with gimmick questions embedded. The route will also be available on Ride With GPS (instructions on use of this will be provided). The first cars will be off around 10am. We will be finished eating and awards presented by about 2pm.
You should plan on a day that starts at 9am and ends around 2pm.
HERE IS AN IMPORTANT POINT: At the Newcomer’s meeting a common question was “I’m not sure that I want to jump into a DE or an autocross, what is the best activity for me to try first so I can meet other members?” WELL, THIS IS IT! (Or the Summer Party – that works too!). This is a great event to bring a kid or kids and come in a Macan (or stuff the really small ones in the back of the 911). The kids can help with the gimmick rally (they have better vision than you do and aren’t busy driving) and will have a blast.
