Registration for the 2026 Concours is now open on Motorsportreg.com at 2026 NER Concours. It will be held on Sunday September 13, 2026, from 10AM to 4PM.
As many of you know, NER has traditionally held its annual Concours in Newport, Rhode Island, on the Saturday of Audrain Week. Earlier this spring, the 2026 Concours Committee made the decision to relocate the event for two primary reasons:
Audrain is introducing its own Concours on the same Saturday morning, and the committee felt that hosting our event simultaneously would not be in the best interest of either event.
For the past several years, our venue has been The Elms. However, The Elms is undergoing extensive renovations throughout 2026 and will not be available. The alternate location offered was a considerable walking distance from the center of Audrain activities.
As always, the Concours Committee is made up entirely of volunteers who generously balance their time with work, family, and other commitments. After exploring a number of options, we believe we have found an outstanding new venue for the 2026 Concours at Westport Rivers Vineyard & Winery in Westport, Massachusetts.
This location offers several advantages that simplify event logistics while providing an enhanced experience for participants and guests, including:
Two food trucks offering a wide variety of menu options.
Ample seating and tables where attendees can relax, enjoy lunch, and listen to live music throughout the day. It’s also a great setting for family members who may wish to join you.
Wine tastings are available on-site.
Westport Rivers wines and local craft beers are available for purchase by the glass, with bottles of wine also available for those interested.
A dedicated spectator parking area.
A long private entrance driveway that minimizes interruptions from public traffic.
This year’s Concours will feature “The Years in Decades” People’s Choice judging only. It will be a fun day with music, great scenery, food and beverages of all kinds.
Looking ahead, the continued success of our Concours depends on volunteers. The Concours Committee is actively seeking volunteers to assist in parking, provide guidance on traditional Concours judging and the tally of votes. REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED: With nearly 120 cars committed YTD we have reached our maximum of 120 for both Werks and Full Presentation Judging. Registration is closed but a waiting list will be established for those that wish to be considered. After September 29, 2025 no cancellations will be accepted and no refunds issued. No day of the event registrations will be accepted. Only paid spectators and pre-registered participants will be allowed access.
The 2025 NER Concours has something for everyone!
Do you have a penchant for keeping your Porsche super clean? How about sharing your Porsche’s ownership story with fellow members? Or maybe you just want to see a lot of cool Porsches, all in one place?
A great way to do all of the above is to attend our annual Concours located on the grounds of the beautiful Elms mansion in sunny Newport, RI.
Mingle with your fellow Porsche enthusiasts, and enjoy food and drink (available for purchase), as you peruse the diverse collection of Porsches in attendance.
When will the 2025 Concours Be Held?
The 2025 NER Concours will be held 8:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, October 4 on the back lawn of The Elms property, 367 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI during the Audrain Motor Week and Concours.
Concours entrants will have a choice between objective points-based Full classes and Werks classes where the history and stories behind Porsches are weighed by judges in a mostly subjective manner. Advanced Concours entrant registration will be $40, with day of the Concours registration, if available, $60.

The annual NER Concours was held on Saturday, October 5, at The Elms in Newport, RI with beautiful sunny weather. The Concours coincided with the fifth Audrain Concours and Motor Week activities that took place October 3-6, culminating on Sunday, with an international Audrain Concours d’Elegance held at The Breakers, the former summer residence of Cornelius Vanderbilt II.
The Elms was the summer residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Julius Berwind of Philadelphia and New York. Mr. Berwind made his fortune in the coal industry. In 1898, he engaged Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer to design a house modeled after the mid-18th century French chateau d’Asnieres (c.1750) outside Paris.
The NER Concours included two categories: Full and Werks. The Full category used traditional judging sheets, examining Porsche exteriors, interiors, storage compartments, engine compartments (where viewable), and wheels/wheel wells. Each entrant started with a perfect score, with point deductions for soil or uncorrected blemishes. The entrants, in class, were ordered in descending point order. First place and two runner-up trophies were awarded per class.
Participants in the Werks category prepared their cars for the Concours, however unlike traditional Full or Parade style judging, Werks judging considers not only the appearance but also the history of the car, its usage by the owners, and overall aesthetic appeal. Werks judging creates a somewhat more relaxed environment and encourages participation by a wide variety of interesting Porsches. At PCA Werks Reunions in Monterey and Amelia Island, everything is found from highly authentic restored cars, Le Mans winning race cars, outlaw & hot rod style Porsche builds, and unique original cars.
This year’s Concours had almost 200 Porsches on the lawn, between 103 Concours entrants and 95 spectator Porsches. Porsches began arriving at 7:00 am with volunteers, followed at 8:00 am by entrants and spectators. George’s Food Truck was ready for all the early arrivals with hot coffee and tasty breakfast pastries for purchase, followed later with delicious lunches.
Volunteers quickly got to direct the parking of Concours entrants in ther respective classes, supervised parking of spectator Porsches to the designated area, setting up the registration and scoring area, and hooking up the P/A system. By 9:30 am, a judges meeting run by Head Judges Paul Whooten for Full and Ceileidh Segal for Werks assembled the judging teams and provided final instructions.
Thanks to the many NER member volunteers, judge teams were able to begin the judging at 10:00 am. The awards ceremony commenced shortly after 1:00pm.
The Concours trophies consisted of 7 ½” tall rectangular inscribed glass and base and were presented to recipients by NER President, Glenn Champagne. He and Betty Mae Mosley, NER Secretary, spent all day helping make the Concours function by assisting in numerous capacities.
Mark Shane, NER VP Admin, was instrumental in facilitating the parking of spectators all day. All their help was very much appreciated.
Several special trophies were presented by some of the sponsors. Rick Lavigne, of Quonset Motor Sport, selected Sonny Roussel and his pristine 1971 white 911 for his special sponsor’s award. Grenon’s of Newport awarded a “Spirit of Speed” award to Gina Catalano and her 1974 yellow 911 Targa, presented by Ceileidh Segal. Glenn presented the Cayman Island Tourist Office special trophy to Earle Assanah for his immaculate 2020 Cayman 718 GT4.
Complete Concours results are reflected in the accompanying tables. The high quality of Porsches entered in the Concours was only in keeping with the impressive surroundings of The Elms and the gorgeous weather. Whether attendees were participating in the Concours or parking their Porsche as a spectator, an elegant time was available to all. Many thanks to the numerous volunteers who allowed this event to function with timely precision, particularly to those who shared their enthusiasm and expertise by serving as judges for the Full and Werks categories.
Several special Porsches were on display including a Carrera GT, two 964 Turbos S flat nose Coupes, a tribute Mark Donahue IROC winning 1974 RSR, a Lola/Porsche race car, 2018 911 GT2 RS Manthey, 2024 992 GT3 RS and Kim Saal’s Concours winning 1958 356 Coupe.
Special gratitude goes to key volunteers who were instrumental in the execution of another fine NER Concours including Bob Hinrichs (Concours Vice Chair), Sterling Vernon (motorsportreg, t-shirts, scoring) Paul Whooten, Rick Boyer (spectator parking), Ceileidh Segal, Patricia Collins (registration), and Roberta Melchar (registration). A special thanks goes to those who helped on Friday to set up the lawn including Bob Hinrichs, Pat Burke, Luis Lebrun, Pete Johnson, Fred Johnson, Tony Miraglia and Bill Cambra.
Lastly, the ability of Concours attendees to leave their Porsches on the lawn of The Elms until 6:00 pm after the conclusion of the Concours to visit nearby Audrain exhibits, including the Audrain Concours entrant display on Bellevue Avenue, Motor Village and the Audrain Museum was very helpful due to difficult Newport parking. The ability for NER Concours attendees to leave their Porsches on the lawn of The Elms until 6:00 pm after the conclusion of the NER Concours to visit nearby Audrain exhibits, including the motor Village and the Audrain Museum, was very helpful due to difficult Newport parking.

The Concours had over 200 Porsches on the lawn, between Concours entrants and spectator Porsches. Porsches began arriving at 7:00 am with volunteers, followed at 8:00 am by entrants. Brewed Awakenings, one of our sponsors, was ready for all the early arrivals with free hot coffee and tasty breakfast pastries for purchase.
Volunteers quickly got to directing the parking of Concours entrants in their respective classes, supervised parking of spectator Porsches to the designated area, and setting up the admin area and P/A system. By 9:30 am, a judges meeting run by Head Judges Paul Whooten for Full and Lee Hower for Werks assigned the judge teams and provided final instructions.
Thanks to the many NER member volunteers, judge teams were able to begin the judging at 10:00 am and complete prior to 12:00 pm, as scheduled. The awards ceremony commenced shortly thereafter. Just prior to the awards ceremony Rod Emory of Emory Motorsports arrived with a 1956 356 red Outlaw coupe that his firm had delivered for the Audrain Museum collection in 2019. The interior features tan leather speedster seats and door panels. It has a 911 four-speed transmission and a fuel-injected cut-down four-cylinder 964 engine with 260 horsepower. Rod gave a brief description of the build, as well as a similar previously delivered 1961 black 356 “Speedster” that was entered in the Concours, captivating the Porsche audience.
Our major sponsor, Porsche Warwick, was represented by Certified Brand Ambassador Kirk Stingle, who was awarded a first-place trophy in Werks for his 2021 Macan. Other sponsors included South Shore Auto Works, Quonset Motor Sport, Grenon’s of Newport Fine Jewelers, and Brewed Awakenings coffee.
South Shore Auto Works had an interesting car on display adjacent to the Concours field. Quonset Motor Sport also had a nice display of cars. Rick Lavigne of Quonset Motor Sport, selected Chris Dunn and his pristine 2004 white 996 GT3 for his special sponsor’s award. Grenon’s of Newport awarded a “Spirit of Speed” award to Sam Rauworth and his 2014 dark blue metallic Cayman S.

As the summer of 2019 winds to a close, we are getting more and more information about some great things coming in the fall.
One highlight appears to be the Audrain Concours and Motor Week event coming to Newport October 3-6th. We’ve been in contact with the team pulling this event together for years, literally. But the schedule is now starting to really come together.
In addition to the headline portions – the full “Pebble Beach” style concours at the Breakers mansion on Sunday October 6, the John Legend concert on Friday night October 4, “The Gathering” at Rough Point also on Friday October 4, and the “Tour d’Elegance” on Saturday morning October 5…they have also announced a host of seminars on various talks given by an array of luminaries in many fields, even beyond cars. They have added a pedal-car race for kids at Fort Adams on Saturday October 5, as well – similar to the Settrington Cup race held at Goodwood in England.
This one will come up quickly as we all get back into the fall routine so make sure to plan it into your calendars now. Our club’s 2019 NER Concours d’Elegance is also happening right in the middle of the event – Saturday October 5 – so please visit our event page to secure a judged spot or just a spectator parking spot to enjoy the show and all of the surrounding events. We’ll be on the extensive and beautiful lawn at Chateau-sur-Mer – one of the first and oldest Newport Mansions, built before there was a Bellevue Avenue – and rumor has it that we’ll be in close proximity to displays from McLaren and Koenigsegg.
Park with us right in the middle and enjoy all of the attractions.
